Plaster & Plan

Last updated 17 September 2026 · Version 1.0

Short version: Plaster & Plan collects nothing. There is no account, no server, no analytics and no tracking. Your rooms, photos, measurements, materials, snags, reminders and floor plans are written to your device and never leave it unless you share them yourself.

Who we are

Plaster & Plan is an iOS app that keeps a renovation diary for each room of a home: before, during and after photos, wall and floor measurements that work out material quantities, a shopping list with costs, a snag list, reminders, drying timers and a scaled floor-plan sketch pad.

This policy explains exactly what the app stores, where it stores it, and which device permissions it asks for. It applies to version 1.0 and later of the iOS app.

Data we collect

None. The app has no sign-in, no back end and no third-party SDKs. It makes no network requests. Nothing you type, photograph or measure is transmitted anywhere, and no usage statistics, crash reports, device identifiers or advertising identifiers are gathered.

Our App Store privacy answer is therefore Data Not Collected.

Data stored on your device

Everything the app remembers is kept inside its own sandboxed container on your iPhone or iPad:

WhatWhereWhy
Rooms, stages, notes, wall and floor measurements, material lines and costs, budgets, snags, reminders, drying timers, milestones, floor-plan geometry A JSON file in the app's Application Support folder So your project is still there next time you open the app
Photos you take in the app or pick from your library, and floor-plan snapshots JPEG and PNG files in the app's Documents folder To show the before / during / after timeline and snag evidence
Preferences: theme, light or dark appearance, metric or imperial units, currency, alert toggles, haptics UserDefaults So the app looks and behaves the way you set it up

None of this is encrypted by the app beyond the file protection iOS applies to app containers, and none of it is indexed, shared or backed up anywhere by us. It is included in your own iPhone or iCloud device backup if you have backups switched on — that backup is between you and Apple.

Permissions the app asks for

Camera

Requested the first time you tap Camera on a room or a snag. Used only to take a photo that is saved into the app's own storage. The app does not analyse, upload or share photos on its own.

Photo library (read)

Requested when you use the Library picker. Only the photos you select are copied into the app. The app cannot see the rest of your library.

Photo library (add)

Requested when you save a before-and-after comparison image. The app writes that one image and reads nothing back.

Notifications

Requested in context when you allow alerts, add a reminder or start a drying timer. All notifications are scheduled locally by iOS on your device. No push service is involved, so no data is sent to deliver them.

You can withdraw any of these permissions at any time in the iOS Settings app. The rest of the app keeps working.

The floor-plan sketch pad

The sketch pad is an interactive canvas rendered by a web view that loads a single HTML file bundled inside the app. It has no network access, loads no remote scripts, sets no cookies and cannot navigate to any external site. Drawings are passed back to the app in memory and saved with the rest of your project.

Sharing and export

When you tap Share, iOS opens the standard share sheet and you choose where the content goes — Messages, Mail, Files, another app. At that point the content is handled by the app or service you picked, under its own privacy policy. Plaster & Plan has no part in it and keeps no record of what you shared.

Children

The app is a general-purpose home improvement tool. It is not directed at children, contains no user-generated content feeds, no chat, no advertising and no purchases, and it collects no personal data from anyone regardless of age.

Your rights

Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to export, correct or delete on your behalf, and no data-subject request to make. You remain in full control of the copy on your device:

Under the GDPR we act as neither controller nor processor of personal data on your behalf, because no personal data reaches us. The same is true under the CCPA: we do not collect, sell or share personal information.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of the app ever stores or transmits something new, this page will be updated before that version ships and the date at the top will change. The app will also ask for any new permission in context, so nothing changes quietly.
